MEGA™ toys are designed to be durable so they can have a long, productive life. They can be passed down to younger family members and friends, kept, or donated — keeping toddlers and adults engaged, entertained, and inspired.
We design our building toys to be compatible with each other, which allows builders to extend the fun and their imaginations, so they never go out of date.
We conduct extensive research to discover the latest innovations that help us to generate less waste and be more efficient in our design and manufacturing processes. One example bringing this to life is our new certified CarbonNeutral®(1) product line: MEGA BLOKS® Green Town™, made from more responsibly-sourced materials - specifically a minimum of 56% plant-based materials(2) - and a minimum of 26% ISCC-certified plastics (mass balance approach)(3).

Our packaging and playbooks are made from FSC-certified fibers, and we are reducing the size of packages wherever possible. In the last six years, we’ve reduced building brick set packaging by more than 30%.
We have also reduced the size of our shipping containers by 30% over the last six years and continue to reduce cube sizes where possible with a goal of optimizing shipping efficiency.
We are reimagining the way we sell our toys by eliminating blister packaging whenever possible, including window cartons and interior blister packs. We’ve removed 95% of blister packaging and window cartons for all items over $20 and, in 2018, we removed such packaging for our MEGA Bloks® First Builders™ Lil’ Vehicles product line, reducing waste.
As of spring 2023, we will be improving the material composition of the remaining blister packs and window cartons in our packaging by using 30% recycled PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) material in all such packaging. In the same year, we are also seeking to replace the polybag, which helps to separate construction parts, from playsets with recyclable paper bags. This would allow us to use less plastics heading towards the future goal of replacing all plastic bags.
Furthermore, we design many of our products to offer storage solutions within the toy itself, in the packaging or through the use of a reusable bag. We also use soy-based inks and water-based varnishes for our packaging which is designed to reduce the environmental impact of these toys and enhance recyclability, all while being non-toxic.
MEGA™ is one of the first brands to participate in Mattel™ PlayBack; a toy takeback program designed to recover and reuse materials from old Mattel™ toys for future Mattel™ products.
Our entire portfolio, from packaging to the toys themselves, incorporates recyclable materials, which facilitates a circular economy.
Our FSC Certification and How2Recycle instructions are displayed on most of our packaging, helping to keep our consumers engaged and provide them with the information they need to recycle responsibly.
We want the world as we see it to be represented in our toys — a world full of diversity, inclusion and culture. We want to help guide young imaginations towards a more equitable world by creating positive social impact through purposeful play. We want kids to see themselves represented in our toys so they can imagine their future through play and so they can learn to respect and care for each other from the earliest stages of their lives, starting at 1+.
We feature diverse and inclusive characters in many of our building toys, such as characters with an array of skin tones in each of our MEGA™ Hot Wheels® and MEGA™ Barbie® building sets. We also ensure that both male and female characters are represented in each line, such as a female race car driver in our MEGA™ Hot Wheels® Twinduction Hauler Pack™ building set and various male characters in our MEGA™ Barbie® building sets.
We also strive to make every individual feel included as a MEGA™ builder by casting diverse talent for our packaging photography and marketing materials, and by making interactions with MEGA™ as inclusive as possible.
